Scott Hogan, Associate, IP and Technology, Protection and Enforcement
I am a lawyer in Fieldfisher's IP and Technology, Protection and Enforcement group.
I qualified as a solicitor in Australia in 2010, and initially worked in a specialist intellectual property practice. I then moved to a top tier Australian firm, before relocating to London and joining Fieldfisher in 2013.
I primarily advise on soft IP issues, with a particular focus on anti-counterfeiting, trade marks, passing off and copyright. I also advise on contractual disputes with an IP element, such as those relating to licensing and franchising.
My clients, based both in the UK and abroad, tend to be from an array of industry sectors including retail, banking, technology and media (including film).
My recent experience includes assisting a large UK bank with various contract termination disputes and working as part of a team that successfully advised a franchisor (a large UK home care services provider) in defending an action brought against it by a disgruntled franchisee.
I am a member of IPSoc (the society for junior IP practitioners). I regularly attend IP related conferences and seminars, and I contribute to various professional publications and the firm's 'SnIPpets' intellectual property blog.
Outside of work, I can be found scouring either: London for its best coffee; or a golf course looking for my wayward ball.
