Margaret Davis, Partner, Employment and Pensions
I am expert in employment and discrimination law with over 30 years' experience of advising large, medium and small clients on a whole range of employment and discrimination issues.
While I have particular experience in the life sciences, retail and financial services sectors my experience extends across all industries including charities, Royal Charter organisations and City Livery companies. I work mostly for employers.
As an employment lawyer the work I do changes from week to week and can range from non-contentious day to day one off employment advice, to drafting consultancy contracts, all types of contracts of employment, advising on corporate transactions, senior executive terminations and negotiations including cases that have attracted media attention. I have also been involved in a number of pan-European and Global harmonisation and restructuring projects for international clients.
I undertake employment litigation in the Employment Tribunals and High Court and Employment Appeal Tribunal. I have also been involved in mediations, two of which were distinctly different one being trans-Atlantic multi-million discrimination case and the other concerning the dismissal of 120 striking employees earning the minimum wage.
From time to time I undertake work for high worth employees, negotiating their contacts and benefits or severance terms.
I have had articles published in Multinational Employer, Employment Law Journal, Complinet HR, a Thomson Reuter employment news and analysis service on sending employees to troubled parts of the World.
I have presented on UK social media issues at our International Employee Risk Conference; the conflict in the employment and relationship between employment and data protection law for JSB Training and Development and most recently was the judge in the mock tribunal we held for clients.
I am a member of the Law Society, The Industrial Law Society, the European Employment Lawyers Association, the Employment Lawyers Association and the ABA International Employment Law Committee, the City HR Association and Retail HR Circle.
I have been regularly named in the Legal Directories, the most recent, Legal 500 2013, recommends me for employment work and also describes me as being 'excellent'.
I cycle to work most days, and enjoy off road cycling at weekends across the White Cliffs in Kent where I also walk my two cocker spaniels. I am a keen skier taking most of my holiday in the winter.
