Fieldfisher promotes two to partnership
New partners made up in the firm's London and Brussels offices.
European law firm Fieldfisher has promoted two lawyers to the partnership, one each from the firm's London and Brussels offices.
Jonathan Zimmern, a senior associate and barrister in the firm's Personal Injury and Medical Negligence group, has been made up alongside Tim Van Canneyt, of counsel from the Technology, Outsourcing and Privacy team in Brussels.
Jonathan has been dealing with complex, high value medical negligence cases for over ten years, covering areas such as birth injury, delayed diagnosis, inquests and orthopaedic injury amongst other areas. He is a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers and is acting on behalf of the Trustees for the vCJD compensation scheme – which manages £67.5m for victims of variant Cruetzfeldt Jakob Disease and their families. He often handles cases which are reported in regional and national press and regularly takes over cases that have been mishandled by other solicitors. He has particular expertise in dealing with complicated cases of clinical negligence which overlap with pre-existing personal injury claims.
Tim is a specialist in IT contract negotiating and litigating, data protection and e-commerce, with a particular interest in privacy challenges caused by digital technologies such as cookies, cloud computing and radio frequency identification. As well as being a member of the International Assocation of Privacy Professionals he is a regular guest lecturer on ICT contracting practices at the University of Brussels.
Michael Chissick, managing partner of Fieldfisher, said: "Both Jonathan and Tim have worked incredibly hard for the firm and their promotions to the partnership are testament to that. I'm very much looking forward to their contributions to the continued success of their practices, their offices and of the firm as a whole."
These promotions took effect 1st May 2016.
