In conjunction with The University of Manchester, Fieldfisher's Public and Regulatory Group will be hosting their annual training seminar on student Fitness to Practise issues concerning students in health and medical schools at Higher Education Institutions.

Ensuring that healthcare and medical students are fit to practise and register with their regulatory bodies upon qualification is a fundamental role for health and medical schools.  Institutions have to bear in mind the public interest (protecting the public, maintaining public confidence in the profession, and declaring and upholding proper standards) and balance this against the interests of the student.  In achieving this, institutions must also ensure that they conduct a fair and legally robust investigation and hearing, and that the outcome is based on sound decision-making.   This seminar will be particularly suitable for Chairs/Secretaries of student Fitness to Practise panels, but may also be suitable for others working in this arena, including administrators and panellists.
