I recently blogged about the Chief Executive at Staffordshire NHS Trust wanting to adopt a new approach of 'openness and transparency' in response to complaints. I read the Department of Health's press release today advising that there is going to be a new review into the NHS reporting culture to make it easier for NHS staff to speak up to improve standards.
It is hoped this review will encourage Trusts to join the Sign up to Safety campaign, the aim being to halve avoidable harm and save up to 6,000 lives over the next 3 years. As always, any measures introduced to highlight patient safety and prevent errors occurring is to be welcomed.
