Incredible escape for unicyclist

The Daily Mail has reported on how a unicyclist who got trapped under a bus managed to get free after the incredible co-operation of the general public. The accident happened in Walthamstow during rush hour one evening last week.

Witness reports describe a large bang when a 212 bus collided with the unicyclist, who ended up trapped underneath the bus. What happened next was truly remarkable as passers-by and people in nearby restaurants rushed out quickly and managed to tilt the bus enough to free the unicyclist from underneath the bus.

It is thought that the unicyclist suffered serious injuries but is in a stable condition.

Jennifer Buchanan, solicitor with Fieldfisher says "This is truly a remarkable act of humanity for so many people to respond to rescue someone in such circumstances, and those who were involved in helping the unicyclist deserve to be congratulated for such an audacious rescue. The injuries of the unicyclist could have been even worse had it not been for the intervention of these people in good time. We hope the unicyclist makes a good recovery and rehabilitation from what must have been such a traumatic experience. This is not the first time that an accident has happened on Hoe Street in Walthamstow. A biker also suffered serious injuries back in April on the same road, so maybe it is time someone investigated what the conditions are like on this street and whether these accidents could have been prevented before someone else gets hurt."
