Grand Départ - Yorkshire Tour Cycling Challenge

As a prelude to the Tour de France starting in Yorkshire in July, a cycling event has been set up which will allow cyclists to cycle the route of the first stage of the Tour starting in Leeds the day before the tour starts. The 120-mile route itself is tough, taking in the twisting, narrow stone-walled roads of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. With some challenging climbs, you'll need to ensure you are fit enough to manage the distance and the terrain. Experiencing the extreme buzz of the Tour de France the next day will be just reward for your efforts.

This event starts on the 3rd July and you would have to pay £99 to register and commit to raise a minimum £600, but if you did this, the  cost of the three day trip would be refunded by the facial surgery charity Saving Faces. To sign up access this web page  click on the "book now" symbol next to "open challenge" in the dates & prices table. You will find that you can choose which charity to support when you go through the booking process and you can select Saving Faces as a charity from there.

Saving Faces is a charity who helps those who have suffered traumatic facial injuries. You can read more about their mission here.

Jennifer Buchanan says of this event: "A cycling event for a fantastic charity, can't think of a better combination. When people suffer facial trauma it is very scary and facial fractures have to be acted on very quickly, I can't thank trustee Simon Holmes enough for his support last August."
