E coli 0157 cases in Lancashire

It is being reported in the news that E coli 0157 has been contracted by 11 visitors to Huntley’s Country Store, near Salmesbury in South Ribble over recent weeks where a lamb feeding event has been taking place. Symptoms of E coli 0157 include bloody diarrhoea, or being unwell with diarrhoea, and passing less urine than is normal. Public Health England have advised that anyone visiting the farm between 29 March and 24 April to seek medical advice or in an emergency dial NHS 111.

The best protection against contracting E coli 0157 is to use an alcohol hand gel in addition to using soap and water when washing your hands.

Field Fisher Waterhouse solicitors were in court this week in respect of 10 children who suffered terribly as a consequence of exposure to the bacteria which can attack the kidneys and cause very serious damage indeed.
