Substantial settlement for builder and film extra badly injured in motorbike collision
Jennifer Buchanan took over this case from a previous solicitor which recently successfully settled against the insurers of the car driver. Her client was catastrophically injured when a motorist turned across him on a straight road, throwing him and his bike into the air, causing very serious multi-faceted orthopaedic injuries, particularly to his leg, hand and arm, which have left him struggling to regain his previous quality of life. Liability was initially being disputed.
Jennifer's client was extremely fit before the accident, enjoying running, swimming, body building and would go to the gym almost every day. He worked as a self-employed project manager in the building trade, specialising in building dentalpractices, and had also recently began working as an extra in films and TV programmes, including Harry Potter, Star Wars, EastEnders and The Bill. After more than a month in the Royal London Hospital undergoing multiple surgeries, he was discharged home ina wheelchair and has found it extremely difficult to maintain a positive outlook on life and to recover from his very severe injuries.
During his rehabilitation, it was very quickly realised he was found to have been trying to walk on a broken leg, which requiredyet more surgery and another Ilizarov frame to insert a bone graft from his hip to lengthen his shattered leg. Jennifer put in a place a rehabilitation programme and financial support to help him rebuild his future, which includes his young son born afterthe accident.
