Substantial damages secured for former-marine after a horrific bike crash

When a horrific cycling accident left former-marine Mark with injuries that affected his professional and family life, in his cycle injury claim Fieldfisher won settlement for his rehabilitation, losses to date and future surgery costs.

Mark was cycling in a designated bike lane when a car overtook him, then swerved across him into a side road. He was thrown off his bike and smashed into the road on his left knee. The driver, having at first fled the scene in a panic, was eventually convicted in Bromley Magistrates Court of driving without due care and attention and failing to stop.

Mark suffered painful bone bruising and cartilage damage, which developed into localised post-traumatic arthritis. This badly affected his quality of life, not only as a father of two but as a barrister expected to stand for long periods.

Fieldfisher was instructed and liability was quickly admitted. We undertook a full medical review, explored all the surgical options with Mark and were able to quickly formulate a claim based on future surgeries and associated losses.

We were able to engage with the insurers, arranging an early settlement meeting and reached a very favourable settlement, providing Mark with the financial security and understanding of his injuries.

Mark went on to say:

"Jennifer Buchanan secured a very favourable settlement for me and with incredible speed, avoiding the stress of having to deal with any legal proceedings. This was clearly down to her being tactically astute, hardworking and a very effective litigator."
